Celestial Grimoire ("the app") is developed by Niagara Indie Apps (G Thompson) ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app handles, where it goes, and the choices you have. We wrote it to describe exactly what the app actually does — not a generic template — because that is the standard we hold the app itself to.
In short: everything you enter into Celestial Grimoire — your birth details, journal entries, favorites, and settings — is stored only on your own device. We do not operate a server that receives or stores your personal data, and the app contains no advertising or analytics software.
All of the following is stored locally in the app's own database on your device, using standard local storage (SQLite via the Drift library). None of it is transmitted to us, to an app server, or to any third party as part of normal app use.

When you search for a birthplace or current-location name during onboarding or when adding a compatibility profile, the text you type is sent to your device's built-in place-lookup service (for example, Google's location services on Android or Apple's on iOS/macOS) so it can be turned into map coordinates. This is a standard operating-system feature the app calls into — it is not our server, and we never see or receive that search text. It only happens when you actively search for a place; the app does not otherwise access your device's location or GPS, and does not request location permission.
Daily Card, Full Moon/New Moon, and journal-reminder notifications are scheduled and shown entirely on your device using your device's local notification system. No push-notification server is involved, and no notification content is sent anywhere.
If you tap Share on a Daily Card, the app generates an image on your device and hands it to your operating system's normal share sheet — the same mechanism any app uses to share a photo. Where that image goes next is entirely your choice (a messaging app, social media, saving it, etc.). We never receive a copy. The shareable image never includes your exact birth date, birth time, birthplace, or private journal content, regardless of which share option you choose.
Celestial Grimoire is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app does not transmit personal data off-device in the first place, there is no server-side record of any user's data, child or otherwise, for us to hold.
If you purchase Celestial Grimoire directly from our website, that transaction is handled by our website's own checkout system, which is separate from the app itself and covered by the website's own privacy policy and terms at the time of purchase. If you install Celestial Grimoire from Google Play, your purchase and payment information is handled by Google Play under Google's own privacy policy — we never receive your payment details in either case.
If we change what the app collects or how it behaves in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and the "Effective date" above before that change ships. We will not retroactively reinterpret a past version of this policy to justify a practice that wasn't disclosed at the time.
